Jan/Feb Newsletter

Hot Winter Music!

Usually January and February are very slow months as post-holiday hibernation seems to prevail, but this year there is a lot of wonderful music happening around New York City!
I am particularly excited about a few events:

Wycliffe Gordon, Dan Levinson, Bria Skonberg and Philip Dizack at Peter Karl Studio

In the Studio, Day 3

On January 10, seven of us went to Peter Karl Studios and recorded four more great and funky tracks for my upcoming CD.  These final tracks will fill out the previous two sessions to make a fun and varied selection of tunes.  I am excited to announce that we had some added star-power for this session with Wycliffe Gordon on trombone, John Philip on Sousaphone, Philip Dizack on trumpet and Rob Garcia on the drums.  And of course, returning greats from the previous sessions, Bria Skonberg, Dan Levinson and Nick Russo.

An Evening with

Jumaane Smith

Newtown Bee Article

I met Jumaane Smith during my senior year of highschool while playing with him (as well as other NW expat Ryan Keberle) in the 1998 Washington All-State Jazz Band. Little did I know at the time that we'd be playing together again more than a decade and 3,000 miles later!  After sharing the stage together at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola with Wycliffe Gordon, Jumaane invited me to play in his new solo project beginning with a concert in Danbury Connecticut on January 21. Jumaane has been touring with Michael Buble for several years and it is high time that he be heard as a solo artist.

Music Crossing Borders

I was recently invited to join a unique organization called Music Crossing Borders which teaches and inspires children in underprivileged circumstances to achieve their social and academic potential through music education. I have the privaledge of playing and speaking to students in a very fun series of school shows and look forward to being involved as their programs grown from a local to global level.  Please check us out:
